Will hang myself in public if I have anything to do with pamphlets: Gautam Gambhir on Atishi charges
A day after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accused BJP's Gautam Gambhir of being involved in the distribution of "obscene and derogatory" pamphlets against Atishi, the cricketer-turned-politician said if charges are proved, he will hang himself in public.
Taking to Twitter on Friday, the BJP's East Delhi candidate, Gautam Gambhir, dared Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to prove charges against him or quit.
"If he [Arvind Kejriwal] can prove that I have anything to do with this pamphlet filth, then I will hang myself in public. Otherwise @ArvindKejriwal should quit politics. Accepted?" Gautam Gambhir tweeted.
Gautam Gambhir, in a series of tweets, said he is "ashamed" to have Arvind Kejriwal as chief minister and he would withdraw his candidature if the charge against him is proved.
He also said he would file a defamation case against Aam Aadmi Party leaders for tarnishing his image. "You can't tarnish someone's image without proof. I have never given a negative statement against any opposition candidate in my election campaigning," he said in a press statement.
